Tony is the founder and principal of Liminal Legal Service Professionals. He founded Liminal on the belief that the best legal counsel develops a genuine, lasting relationship with the client—working as an extension of its team and understanding the business, its people, and its priorities well enough to provide practical, proactive guidance.
Liminal’s flexible, relationship-based model also reflects Tony’s belief that legal service relationships work best when incentives are aligned. The model emphasizes continuity, predictability, and access to senior-level counsel, keeping the focus on business outcomes and long-term value rather than the volume of hours billed.
Tony brings more than twenty years of experience advising publicly traded, multinational, and high-growth private companies across a wide range of industries. His background spans corporate transactions, M&A, complex corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and high-stakes litigation. He has served as both transactional counsel and a litigator, and as both in-house and outside counsel—a uniquely broad foundation that allows him to assess risk from multiple perspectives and align legal strategy with business priorities.
Tony has served in several key in-house roles throughout his career. He was General Counsel to a market-leading, multi-state consumer brand operating in a complex, highly regulated market; oversaw the corporate legal function for a publicly traded aerospace and defense manufacturer and helped lead its $4.7 billion sale to a major U.S. defense contractor; and managed worldwide commercial litigation and disputes for a leading global electronics manufacturer.
Tony’s private-practice experience is similarly broad. As a partner at TroyGould, a nationally recognized Los Angeles-based business law firm, he represented public and private companies in M&A and financing transactions and advised them on SEC reporting, securities compliance, corporate governance, and commercial matters. His experience in private practice also gives him a practical understanding of how companies can work most effectively with outside counsel.
Tony holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
